If you are married and bringing a family to Cherry Point, perhaps the most important thing on your checklist is housing. The Housing Department is located in building 286, on the corner of 4th and “D” streets.
Cherry Point housing is now privatized – our partner is Atlantic Marine Corps Communities (AMCC). Although we are now under a Public-Private Venture initiative, the application process for housing has not changed. The wait for on-station housing can vary from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the number of people on the wait list, ongoing renovations and planned construction.
Our off-station Housing Referral section is located within the Housing Department in building 286. We coordinate with local property management companies and private owners in maintaining current rental and “For Sale” listings. Contact with this office is required as part of the check-in procedure before any commitment for private housing is made.
The Transient Enlisted Quarters and Transient Officers Quarters are available on a space-available basis for members and their families traveling on PCS orders. Before going to a motel or other temporary accommodations, a statement of “non-availability” must be obtained from the TEQ or TOQ. Temporary rentals while awaiting housing are available, primarily mobile homes, efficiency apartments and motels – some with kitchenettes. Linens and utensils are not usually provided at these rentals.
